ARTIST TRADING CARDS

 

The mail art community introduced me to artist trading cards back in the early aughts. ATC’s are small works of art defined only by their size which is 3.5 x 2.5 inches, or the size of a playing card. Something about the unassuming size, potential of repetition, immediacy of completion, and the social aspect of trading the cards just clicked for me.  

 

I consider artist trading card making to be a therapeutic practice,  occasionally coinciding with conceptual concerns, but mostly existing as a poetic visual journal.
