BODY WEIGHT PRINTING

This is an ongoing performance and print based project utilizing the weight of my body in place of a traditional printing press. Experiments in this series include frottage from traditional printing matrices, laying or rolling my whole body on memory foam with layers of ink, plastic, and paper underneath, and performing tasks atop acrylic sheeting with layers of ink and printable substrates underneath.

All of the pieces throughout these installations are about pressure. The pressure of my body. The pressure of performance. The pressure to conform. The pressure to transcend all of that and figure out how to make the work I want without abandoning my own boundaries in the process. I want you thinking about the rules I am breaking and the access that may provide me as the artist and you as the viewer.

... supposed to print woodblocks with ink.
... supposed to print on a press.
... supposed to keep your pants on.
... supposed to care about what they think.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
